The national working committee of the APC and the northern governors on its platform have jointly aborted moves by the national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu to give the presidential ticket to the senate president, Ahmed Lawan.
Seven members of the committee opposed the announcement of Lawan as the consensus candidate by Adamu at a meeting on Monday afternoon.
Adamu told the committee’s members that the choice of Lawan was made after consultation with President Buhari.

Speaking on behalf of the seven members, Suleiman Argungu, the national organizing secretary of the national working committee told newsmen that lawan is the choice of the national chairman, and not that of the APC.
Amidst the confusion, northern state governors, headed for the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, where they told him that the presidential ticket must go the south.
Later, the presidency in a statement by a presidential spokesman, Garba Sheu, clarified that Buhari has no anointed candidate for the ticket.
According to Sheu, Buhari told the governors that delegates should determine who pick the party’s ticket today at the Eagles Square.
