Newly Registered Voters Will Start Getting PVC From January 2023

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that all new registrants in its ongoing continuous voter registration will not get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) until January 2023.

The electoral body says it will start distributing their PVC from January 2023 to the eve of the 2023 polls.

INEC resident electoral commissioner for the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Yahaya Bello made this known on Tuesday during the ongoing open air PVC registration in Abuja.

According to him, the PVC being distributed for now are for those who registered earlier in 2011, 2014, and 2019.

84 million voters were on the INEC voter register in 2019, 51 percent of which were youths.

The ongoing registration started over a year ago and is scheduled to end on June 30.

But a federal high court had restrained the electoral body from ending the registration on June 30.
