Neighbouring Countries Are Depending On The Smuggled Petrol From Nigeria – NNPCL
Meanwhile, Nigerian national petroleum company limited ( NNPCL ) says Nigeria’s Neighbouring countries are depending on the smuggled petrol from Nigeria.
According to the company’s chief executive officer, Mele Kyari, none of Nigeria’s neighbouring countries are importing petrol.
Kyari, speaking on a television programme said smuggled petrol from Nigeria goes as far as Sudan in the north Africa.
He blames the situation on the ex-depot price of petrol in Nigeria before last Monday, which he put at n185 per litre.

Nigeria’s petrol sells for N500 and above, in all the neighbouring countries.
Kyari explained that although the NNPCL has data on the petrol it was pumping daily into the Nigerian market, it does not know if all are being consumed in the country.
The NNPC boss also said federal government has not remitted all the subsidies on the petrol imported into the country since February 2022,
because the provision for it in the 2022 and 2023 budgets were not cash backed.
