NCDC Declares Emergency Over MonkeyPox Outbreak

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has declared an emergency over  MonkeyPox outbreak in the country.

As at Sunday, the centre said a total of 21 confirmed cases of MonkeyPox outbreak had been reported in Abuja and nine other states.

Only one death had been reported so far from the virus in the country.

The centre said the confirmed cases were recorded in Abuja, as well as Lagos, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Kano, Imo and Rivers states.

According to NCDC, five of the confirmed cases were recorded in Adamawa state, Four in lagos, two each in Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Kano, and Abuja.

Imo and Rivers states also recorded one confirmed case each.

Ncdc said it had activated its emergency centre for MonkeyPox to cope with the outbreak of the virus.
