National Assembly Begins Debate On 2023 Budget

The National Assembly has begun deliberations on the 2023 appropriation bill.

The Senate and House of Representatives, simultaneously started debating the general principles of the bill, during their separate plenary on Wednesday.

In the Senate, the consideration of the bill, started with a lead debate by  the Senate Leader, Ibrahim Gobir.

In the House of Representative, the Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu faulted the benchmark which the 2023 budget was based upon.

According to the Deputy Minority Leader, the basis of the proposed budget was a distortion of the economic realities.

President Huhari submitted the N20.5 trillion bill to a joint session of the National Assembly last week.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday, had assured that the bill would be passed by the National Assembly before the new year.
