N8.8 Billion Tramadol Capsules In Another Major Drug Haul In Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered another major illicit drug in a hideout at the Victoria Garden in Lekki in Lagos metropolis.

A total of 13 million, 451 thousand and 466 capsules of the drug were discovered in a mansion belonging to one Ugochukwu Chukwuadibia at plot a 45 road in the VGC.

NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi on Monday, put the street value of the siezed drug at N8.8 billion, adding that Ugochukwu who is the chairman of Automation Motors is in already in detention.

The raid came, after the highest NDLEA’s singular cocaine seizure of 1,855 kilograms of cocaine (worth N194bn) between last September 18th from an Ikorodu warehouse in Lagos.

The fresh discovery, according to Babafemi, also came barely two months after 258.7 kilogramme of crystal methaphetamine was seized at another mansion in the garden city.

Babafemi says that NDLEA team after credible intelligence, raided the mansion of Ugochukwu last September 30, and recovered 443 cartons of tramadol hydrochloride 225 milligram capsules.

He says that some cartons had been set ablaze shortly before the raid.

Before his arrest, Chukwukadibia, who hails from the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, had been on NDLEA’s watch list as one of those behind the tramadol drug cartel in Nigeria.
