Most Commercial Motorcyclists in Lagos Are Criminals: Police

The police in Lagos state have said that most of the commercial motorcyclists operating in Lagos metropolis and other parts of the state are criminals.

The state police commissioner, Abiodun Alabi made this known while making clarification on the fresh ban on the operation of commercial motorcyclists in Lagos.

The police chief said several of the Okada riders had been caught with locally made pistols, while several of them had been charged to court.

According to him, many commercial motorcyclists are using their motorcycles as a disguise, adding that the police command has entered into a dialogue with transport unions on the need to flush them out of the society.

The police commissioner warns that any commercial motorcyclist who violates the ban would be prosecuted along with passengers in mobile courts.
