Methodist Prelate Regains Freedom, Amidst 100 Million Naira Ransom Demand

The abducted prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Samuel Kanu-Uche, has regained his freedom from kidnappers on Monday amidst news of 100 million naira ransom demand.

It could not be immediately ascertained if the 100 million naira ransom demanded by the kidnappers was paid.

The prelate was abducted by gunmen from his car in Abia state, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway on Sunday.

He was taken away by the gunmen with his chaplain, Very Reverend Abidemi Shittu and the bishop of Owerri, Right Reverend Dennis Mark.

Spokesman of the Abia state police command, Geofrey Ogbonna, confirmed their release.

Ogbonna says that no arrest has been made yet, and that he is not aware that ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
