Lagos Alerts Of More Water Release From Oyan Dam
Lagos State Government has alerted that the Oyan Dam in Abeokuta, will release more excess water as the 2023 rainy season peaks this month.
According to the State Government, the dam operated by the Ogun-Osun river basin authority, will release 23 million cubic metres of excess water this month.
The State environment and water resources commissioner, Tunji Bello, announced this at a news conference in lagos.

Bello explained that the excess water being released this month is the highest this year.
The commissioner blamed the massive release of the excess water from the dam on the intensive rainfall, which is expected to climax this month.
By next month, he said that there would be a gradual cut in the release of water from the dam, to the tune of 11 million cubic metres, with the reduction in the intensity of the rain this year.
