Former governor, Peter Obi, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 polls.
Obi, who pulled out of the PDP presidential race at the last minute, was elected during the primaries of the party to select a presidential candidate, held on Monday in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

During the primaries, a political economist, Pat Utomi, stepped down for Obi, describing him as a younger aspirant who is capable of rebuilding Nigeria.
Earlier, another presidential aspirant, Josy Faduro, had also stepped down for Obi.
Obi defeated another aspirant, Mrs. Olusola Emmanuel-Tella, who refused to step down for him.
