Labour Party Claims Victory In Presidential Poll, To Seek Redress
The Labour Party has urged Nigerians to remain peaceful as it pursues legal redress on the just concluded presidential poll.
The party’s vice presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Ahmed, made the call hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the winner of the poll on Wednesday morning.
Datti, addressing a press conference in Abuja, claimed that Labour Party won the poll, but was rigged.
According to him, the purported result did not meet the minimum criteria of a transparent, free and fair poll.
In addition to the most condemn-able attacks, voter intimidation and suppression, the election was conducted in clear violation of agreed and promised INEC rules and guidelines.
The agents of the party had staged a walk out of the National Collation Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday, while counting of the results of the poll was ongoing by INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu.
