Kogi Joins Oil Producing States, Receives Its First Oil Derivation

Kogi State has joined the league of Nigeria’s oil producing States, making it the first state in the North to enjoy the status.

The State Government has acknowledged the  receipt of  its first 13 per cent derivation over the Ibaji crude oil well in the State.

Governor Yahaya Bello broke the news during the weekly meeting of the State executive council held at the Lugard House in Lokoja.

Bello assured that oil revenue would further empower his administration to do more for the people in the State.

He thanked President Buhari, the revenue mobilization and fiscal commission, as well as the people of the State for the development.

Kogi and Anambra States who are the latest States to join the oil producing State in the past had engaged in dispute over the crude oil deposits at their join border communities.
