The new Olowu of Owu Egba in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, would soon emerge, following the final screening of candidates to fill the vacant stool.
The kingmakers and former president Olusegun Obasanjo, the Balogun of Owu, have forwarded a list of seven candidates to Governor Dapo Abiodun to appoint one of them to fill the vacant stool.
The final screening of the candidates by the kingmakers took place last Wednesday in Abeokuta, with officials of Abeokuta north local government in attendance.

The candidates are Doctor Adegbemi Adewale, Princes Adelani Oladimeji, Matemilola Adelola, Olatido Olaniyi, Adeyanju Bakinson, Simeon Soyole, and Adesina Adelani.
The seven candidates were out of 12 selected by the Otileto ruling house which is to produce the next Olowu.
The throne of Olowu Egba kingdom became vacant since Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu joined his ancestors on December 12, 2021.
