Kidnappers Kill Four, Including So-Safe Commander, Abduct Two Others In Ogun

Two persons, including a commander of the So-safe Corps, have been shot dead by armed kidnappers, while responding to distress calls from some communities in the Sagamu Interchange axis of Ogun State.

The So-safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, who confirmed the incident, said commander Saheed Ogunrinde was shot dead on Wednesday, while leading his team to track the kidnappers, who had raided Orile Imo last Tuesday.

During the Tuesday’s raid by the kidnappers, who wore military camouflage, they killed two persons and abducted two others before they were chased away by security operatives.

Ganzallo said the So-safe commander and his team on resumption of tracking the kidnappers on Wednesday was attacked in the Sagamu Interchnage axis, during which commander Ogunrinde was shot dead.

The Corps commander said the kidnappers after riddling him with bullets made away with his service rifle and phone.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, stating that one of the suspects have been arrested and others were being trailed.

Oyeyemi said one of those shot was taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, but the doctors did not attend to him, saying “they were on strike.”

Oyeyemi said the victim died while being taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilishan.

“Two people were shot, one died on the spot and they kidnapped two, but one suspect had been arrested in connection with the situation,” he added.
