Kano Cleric To Die By Hanging For Blasphemy Against Holy Prophet

A famous cleric, Abdujabir Kabara has been sentenced to die by hanging for blasphemy against the Holy Prophet Mohammed, by a Kano State Upper Sharia court in Kano State.

The cleric had been on trial for making blasphemous statement since last year. The judge, Mallam Ibrahim Yola, delivering his judgement on Thursday, found him guilty on all the charges leveled against him.

Apart from execution, the judge ordered the state government to confiscate his two mosques in the state, and barred the media from using any of his teachings or pictures.

The judge gave him 30 days to appeal against his conviction. Before his conviction, the cleric had accused the judge of twisting his evidence and submissions upside down.

He rejected plea by his counsel to the judge for leniency, reminding his followers that he was ready to die as a hero.
