Jonathan Seeks Withdrawal Of National Award From People With Dubious Character
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called for the withdrawal of national Award from beneficiaries with questionable conduct and character.
He called for an amendment of the law on national honour awards, to empower the president and the governors to strip such beneficiaries of the award given to them.
Jonathan made the call in Abakaliki at the maiden Ebonyi State Honour Awards, where he was conferred with the grand commander of the Ebonyi Hall of Fame.
He explained national award should be taken from beneficiaries whose conduct no longer justify the awards.
Over 300 other distinguished Nigerians, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor and late military ruler, General Sani Abacha were among those conferred with Ebonyi awards.
