Jimi Lawal Denies Endorsing Abiodun, Indicts Kashamu Group For Defecting To APC

A governorship aspirant on the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Otunba Jimi Lawal has refuted reports that he joined the Kashamu PDP group to endorse governor Dapo Abiodun for the March 11 2023 governorship poll.

He accused the Kashamu group who defected to APC on Sunday in Abeokuta of doing so for an alleged pecuniary gains.

The Kashamu PDP group led by Sunday Abiodun who told them they would not regret their decision Lawal was welcomed into the All Progressive Congress (APC) by the governor.

The governorship aspirant said he could not endorse Abiodun when his petition against the outcome of the Ogun State PDP, is still pending before the supreme court.

Lawal who is contesting the state governorship ticket with the PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, said the Kashamu group neither consulted or get his approval before defecting to the APC.

The governorship aspirant in a statement issued on Monday by the director of media of his campaign organization, Tony Onyikor, said his alleged endorsement of governor Abiodun was mischievous and unimaginable.

According to Lawal, endorsing governor Abiodun would have amounted to disappointing his numerous supporters, well wishers and good people who believe in his leadership and aspiration to become the governor of Ogun State.

Olufemi Ajadi,  dismissed report of stepping down for any governorship candidate, ahead of the poll.

Ajadi, addressing newsmen on Monday in Abeokuta, said he would not step down for any candidate.

He said the report was being circulated by politicians who are afraid of his growing popularity.

The state secretary of the party, Oluwatoyin Afuape also dismissed the report of the party merging with any other parties as the handiwork of mschievous politicians.
