INEC Speaks On Chances Of Ogun PDP And Labour Party In 2023 Polls
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has spoken on the likely fate of Ogun State Labour Party and the PDP in the 2023 polls.
The electoral agency has not listed candidates of both parties for the polls.
Ogun State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Niyi Ijalaiye, blames the non inclusion of the candidates of the PDP on the various litigation in courts.
The commissioner spoke to Rockcity FM correspondents on the sideline of a public lecture organized by the state council of Nigeria labour council in Abeokuta.
According to him, the in-fighting by factions of the pdp had resulted in various cases in courts
On the Labour party, the INEC Commissioner said the names of its Ogun State candidates were not on the ballot, because the national headquarters failed to upload their names to the inec headquarters within the stipulated period.
Ijalaiye, however, said he was aware that the candidates are exploring other ways of making sure they participated in the 2023 polls
The various cases filed by Ogun State PDP factions over the conduct of its governorship primaries, are still pending before several courts, including federal high courts and an appeal court.
