INEC Signs MOU To Move Electoral Officers And Material For 2023 Polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with transport operators to move electoral officers and material for the 2023 polls.
The agreement was signed by INEC on Tuesday, with the National Union of Road Transport Workers, National Association of Road Transport Owners and Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria. Under the agreement, over one million electoral officers, 100,000 vehicles and 4,200 boats would be lifted.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmud Yakubu signed the agreement, with resident electoral commissioners in attendance. Yakubu said the haulage of human and material required for the 2023 polls would be within a period of two weeks.
According to him, they would be moved from the state offices of INEC to the offices in 774 local government areas, 8,809 electoral wards and 176,846 polling units.
Yakubu also stressed that the leadership of the unions must keep an eye on their members to ensure that when they take personnel and materials to designated locations, they also bring them back at the end of the elections, Stating that the contract is for both forward and reverse logistics.
