INEC Says APC, ADC, PDP, SDP And Nine Others On Ballot For Ogun 2023 Polls
Thirteen political parties in Ogun State, are on the ballot to contest in the 2023 governorship, national and state assemblies polls says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The political parties include the APC, the PDP, ADC, PRP, NNPP, SDP and SDP.
The state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Niyi Ijalaye, made this known, while appearing on a Rockcity FM programme “daybreak show” on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
He explained that the Labour Party’s national assembly and state assembly poll candidates were also on the ballot for the march 11 poll, after they were cleared by court in cases arising from the party’s primaries.
The INEC commissioner, however, said that governorship candidate of the Labour Party, is not yet on the ballot for the poll, because of pending litigation in court, adding that he may join the ballot if he wins in court.
Ijalaye explained that INEC had been updating the list of candidates based on the outcome of litigation in courts, and the number of candidates may reduce or increase, depending on the court’s judgement.
He asked eligible voters in the state to participate in the mock accreditation exercise coming up on Saturday, to test run the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and other innovation introduced for the 2023 polls nationwide.
The mock accreditation exercise, according to him, would hold at two polling units in each of the state’s three senatorial districts.
For the Ogun Central, it will hold in the Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North Local Government Areas, as well as in Sagamu and Ogun Waterside for the Ogun East , and Ado Odo and Egbado West for the Ogun West.
