INEC Says 2023 Polls Will Hold as Scheduled

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said the 2023 polls must hold as scheduled despite the rising security challenges facing the country.

INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, stated this on Thursday, while unveiling the 2020-2026 strategic plan and 2023 election project in Abuja.

Yakubu said that INEC would continue to engage security agencies to ensure the safety of electoral officials, electoral material, accredited polls observers, journalists and voters.

According to him, over one million electoral officials will preside over the conduct of the polls in 176,846 polling units nationwide.

He asks for co-operation from the electorate to make the 2023 polls a success.
