INEC Promises Release of Osun Governorship Poll Results Within 12 Hours

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to release the outcome of the July 16 Osun governorship poll, 12 hours after voting ends.

Ahead of the Osun governorship poll, sensitive electoral material are expected to arrive Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday.

The state resident electoral commissioner, Professor Abduganiy Raji announced these on Tuesday at a stakeholders meeting in Osogbo.

He says that non-sensitive materials are already in the state and will be conveyed to the polls registration centres.

Also speaking at the meeting, chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, says that two INEC national commissioners and five resident electoral commissioners have been deployed to handle the poll.

Yakubu  said the deployment is to ensure that the July 16 Osun governorship election will be conclusive at the first ballot.

The inspector general of police, Usman Baba also told the stakeholders that 21,000 police officers and men are being deployed to the state to provide effective security during the poll.
