The inspector general of police, Usman Baba has placed a total ban on the use of police spy number plates on vehicles nationwide.

The police chief said the ban affected all vehicles whether approved or not approved to use the number plate.

He explained that the ban followed the disregard of traffic regulation by vehicles carrying spy number plates.

The police IGP directed police officers and other security personnel attached to VIPs to comply with the directive or be arrested.
