Gunmen Abduct Worshippers from Mosque in Abeokuta

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, have invaded a mosque during evening prayers at Soyoye, near Lafenwa in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The gunmen shooting sporadically abducted two of the worshippers, including a police inspector.

They also abducted a woman who was heading to a nearby church to pick her children when she heard the sporadic shooting.

The attack took place on March 27, but the kidnappers freed them on Sunday.

The kidnappers had demanded the payment of 5 million naira ransom on each of their victims.

But it could not be confirmed if ransom was paid before the three kidnapped persons regained their freedom.

Spokesman of the state police command, deputy superintendent Abimbola Oyeyemi confirms the kidnap in Abeokuta, but said he was not aware that ransom was paid to the kidnappers to free them.
