Gov Abiodun Beats Deadline, Submits List Of Commissioner Nominees To Assembly

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, has finally submitted a list of nominees into his cabinet, to the state House of Assembly, for consideration and approval.

The Governor submitted the list of commissioner nominees on Thursday, to beat the deadline of doing so, as stipulated in the amended Nigerian constitution.

The Clerk of the Assembly, Deji Adeyemo, in a release confirmed the receipt of the list from the governor by the speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, in a letter dated July 27, 2023.

Adeyemo said the speaker, will formally announced the names of nominees on the list, to lawmakers during the plenary of the assembly on Tuesday, next week.

Already, the House had approved the request of the governor, to appoint 20 special advisers, ahead of his appointment of commissioners.

But out of the 20 approved special advisers slots, over a month ago, only eight had been appointed by the Governor.

Some of the special advisers are on the list of the commissioner nominee submitted on Thursday to the House of Assembly.

In the letter, the governor thanked the Speaker and other members of the assembly for their unflinching support for his administration since inception on May 29.

“In furtherance of our mission to build our future together, please find attached the list of nominees for the post of commissioners for your consideration. Please accept the assurance of my highest regards,” the governor said.
