Gboyega Aribisogan Insists He Remain In Office

The impeached speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Gboyega Aribisogan, has insisted that he remains the speaker.

Aribisogun was impeached on Monday morning and immediately replaced by the lawmakers.

The impeached speaker, in a statement, said seven lawmakers accompanied by policemen, invaded the assembly on Monday morning to carry out the impeachment exercise.

According to the impeached speaker, the seven lawmakers failed to follow due process, including a formal notification of allegations against him and to give him 72 hours to respond.

He adds that the law stipulated his response to the allegations must be reviewed by an Ad hoc committee before members could vote on the impeachment of the speaker.
