Five Coaches Considered By NFF As Head Coach Of The Super Eagles

Five coaches are reportedly being considered by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take Jose Peseiro’s position as head coach of the Super Eagles after a period of twelve months.

The Nigerian national team has not been playing at its best under the former sporting boss since May, losing six games and winning three of nine.

Reports gathered that the 63-year-old former Venezuelan head coach could be overseeing the Super Eagles’ last matches in June if his contract with the Nigerian Football Federation is not renewed.

The report further stated that two Nigerian coaches, particularly Salisu Yusuf, the head coach of the Nigeria under-23 team, and three international coaches have been tipped to replace the coach.

The NFF Exco mandated the Technical and Development Sub-Committee to recommend coaches that would fill the vacant position within five days.

The communique read in part: “The Executive Committee mandated its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to, within the next 5 days, make recommendations to the Executive Committee on coaching crews for the Super Eagles, the CHAN team, the U20 Boys (Flying Eagles) and the U17 Boys (Golden Eaglets) ahead of upcoming assignments. This is to ensure preparations for the next qualifying tournaments and championships commence in earnest.”
