FG Warns ASUU Against Politicizing Lecturers Strike

Federal Government has asked the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) not to politicize the more than six months old strike of public universities lecturers.

It accuses ASUU of making unguarded comment by asking students to vote against the APC during the 2023 poll.

Education minister of State, Goodluck Opiah speaking to newsmen in Owerri, said Federal Government has met all the demands of ASUU, except the payment of salaries for the period that the lecturers were on strike.

The minister insisting on the “no work no pay” policy, says  it was a global practice, and not a witch-hunt of the striking lecturers.

Federal Government according to him has mobilized N50 billion to clear the arrears of earned allowances to staff of Federal Universities.
