FG Plans Regulation Of Borehole Drilling In Urban Areas

Federal Government plans to regulate the drilling of borehole in Urban Areas in the Country.

The proposed regulation will not extend to Villages and Other Rural Communities.

Water Resources Minister, Suleiman Adamu, announced the proposal in Abuja at the Ministerial briefing on the achievements of the Bihari Administration.

The Minister explains that permits for the drilling of boreholes would be issued by Federal Government under the National Safety Code and Guidelines.

Adamu says that Federal Government is worried over the indiscriminate drilling of boreholes without regulation by the Government.
