Monday, next week, has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.

Interior Minister, Doctor Bunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the holiday in a statement on Thursday, issued on behalf of the Federal Government.

The Federal Government wished Nigerians a memorable independence celebration.

It reminds Nigerians of how Nigeria’s founding fathers, despite their differences in faith, tribe, and tongue, came together for the freedom that Nigerians are enjoying today.

Federal government has said the 2023 independence anniversary would be a low-key one, and did not invite any foreign leaders to the event.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, said this during a press conference in Abuja, with the FG also not inviting any world leaders.

Akume further told journalists that the decision not to invite any world leaders for the 63rd independence anniversary was taken in line with the government’s option for a low-key celebration.
