Fear Grips Abeokuta Residents Over Renewed Cult Killings

Residents of Obantoko axis of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, are now living in fear following the renewed cult killings in the area.

Within three days, three persons have died in the attacks taking place at nights.

Following the attacks, businesses in the area now close early in anticipation of the attacks.

The fresh cult killings started on Thursday night at Somorin during which one person was killed overnight Friday, causing panic in the area.

The following day, another person was killed at Aregbe in the night amidst sporadic shooting which scared residents.

The attackers cut the hands and tongues of their victims before leaving them in the pool of their own blood to the shock of residents.

On Saturday night, the third person was killed in suspected reprisal attack at Somorin area.

The state police command has declared war on the cultists resulting in the arrest of scores of them in the past weeks.
