Evacuation Of Nigerians Trapped In Sudan Begins Today

Federal government has confirmed that the long awaited evacuation of Nigerians trapped in Sudan, where the army and rapid support group are fighting, will begin this morning.

An estimated 3,500 students, diplomats and other Nigerians are to be moved out of sudan in batches in ten buses.

Chairperson of Nigerian diaspora commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said they would be transported to the border of Egypt, before being airlifted to Nigeria.

Dabiri Erewa speaking on the BBC Africa said the evacuation was delayed till today, because warring forces in sudan failed to respond to a request of nigeria for a safe passage for its nationals trapped in the country.
