EFCC Says Politicians, Candidates On Watchlist, Ahead Of 2023 Polls

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has placed some politicians, including presidential candidates on its watchlist, ahead of the 2023 polls.

EFCC Chairman, Abdurasheed Bawa, who made this known at a news briefing on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the agency had been flooded with petitions against politicians.

Aqcording to Bawa, the petitions received implicates almost all the presidential candidates, adding that a desk had been set up to determine which of them, are true and should be further investigated.

The EFCC Chairman, however, said the agency would not invite any presidential candidates for now to avoid being accused of political witch hunting.

Recall that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says its operatives are keeping high profile Nigerians and organizations on their watch list, ahead of the 2023 polls.

The anti-graft agency lists those on the watch list as including politicians, lawyers, real estate operator, accountants, precious stone dealers and construction companies.

EFCC chairman, Abdurasheed Bawa, made this known on Tuesday, at a workshop on financial crime reportage, organized for financial crimes and crime reporters in Lagos.
