EFCC Operatives Kills Colleague Over Items Recovered From Suspect in Sokoto

A scuffle between three officials of the economic and financial crimes commission ( EFCC ) has led to the death of one of the commission’s staff in Sokoto.

The EFCC head, media and publicity, Wilson Uwujaren speaking to journalists at the anti-corruption commission’s headquarters in jabi, abuja, on tuesday said the inspector of efcc abel dicson, died during an argument with two other colleagues at its Sokoto zonal command.

He listed the two other staff involved in the argument as assistant superintendent of EFCC, Apata Odunayo and their inspector Ogbuji Tochukwu.

Uwujaren who described dicson’s death as unfortunate said the deceased and two other staff, on may 5 disagreed over procedures from the custody of items belonging to a suspect in detention.

The spokeperson speaking on behalf of efcc executive chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa said two days after, the officer passed away at the Usman Danfodiyo university teaching hospital, sokoto where he was receiving treatment for injuries he sustained during the scuffle.

According to him, the two other officers involved in the disagreement had been suspended by efcc and subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
