Nigerian guild of editors and the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) have sued the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over its revocation of the operating licences of 53 broadcast stations.
Joined in the suit are President Buhari and information minister, Alhaji lai Mohammed.
In the suit filed at a federal high court in Lagos, they are challenging the constitutionality of the NBC act and the broadcasting code to revoke licences.
The commission last week had threatened to shut the affected stations on Wednesday of the broadcast stations which failed to clear their debts.
Guild of editors and SERAP wants the court to determine if section ten, sub section ten of the third schedule of the NBC act died not violate the 199 constitution.
