Ebonyi Adds N150,000 Relief Allowance To Monthly Salary Of Public Hospitals’ Doctors

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has approved N150,000 in relief allowances for the monthly salaries of each of the medical doctors in the state’s public hospitals.

Earlier, each of the doctors had been allocated a brand new sport utility vehicle by the state government.

The governor announced the new relief allowance while receiving members of the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team Foundation at the government house in Abakaliki.

He explained that the N150,000 monthly allowance is to empower the doctors to fuel the new cars allocated to each of them and to meet other critical expenses.

Governor Nwifuru noted that the gesture is to advance his practical approach to delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Ebonyi, adding that it will assist the doctors in fueling their new cars and offsetting other sundry expenses.

He assured that the State Government will continue to partner with AMURT, which is currently working in some rural communities of the State.

“AMURT’s focus is on primary healthcare delivery, with major emphasis on maternal and child health,” said the State Governor.

He maintained that he has integrated AMURT staff into the State Civil Service to boost their morale, adding that should AMURT cease operations in the State, the health workers integrated into the State Civil Service will continue serving the rural areas, using the AMURT facilities that will be left as health centres.
