DSS Reads Riot Act To NNPCL, Others To End Petrol Queue Latest Saturday

Department of State Service (DSS) has given Nigerian national petroleum company limited (NNPCL) until Saturday, to end the petrol queue at fueling stations and sell the products at an approved pump price to motorists.

The security agency says enough of the petrol crisis and has placed its commands nationwide on red alert, to enforce the directive, at the end of the expiration of the 48 hour deadline.

DSS spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunaya, reads the riot act at a news briefing on Thursday, at the end of a meeting between DSS chiefs and major stakeholders in the petroleum sector at the headquarters of the security agency in Abuja.

Those at the meeting, included top officials of NNPCL, private depots operators, tanker drivers, tanker trucks owners and independent petroleum products marketers association of Nigeria.

Afunaya said they were warned during the meeting that DSS would no longer tolerate any form of petrol supply crisis, because major stakeholders had confirmed that NNPCL had over 1.9 billion liters of petrol in stock.

He said those who attended the meeting agreed to resolve their differences and make the products available at fueling stations at approved pump prices.

Also, NNPCL promised to supply products directly to IPMAN, while depots owners and tanker drivers promised to operate 24 hours to clear the petrol queues.
