DSS Alerts Of Planned Attacks On Worship Centres, Others During Eid El Kabir.

The Department of State Services ( DSS ) has alerted of planned attacks on places of worships and other public places, during the forthcoming Eid El Kabir festival.

The security agency also asked operators of malls, markets and recreation centres to be watchful.

Dss, in a statement by its spokesman, doctor peter afunaya, said the planned attacks was evident in the recovery of primed improvised explosive devices (Eid) by its operatives.

The agency said the 22 primed eid were recovered, following the arrest of a suspected terrorist, abubakar mohammed, last Monday, along Abuja-Keffi road in Nasarawa state.

Other items recovered from the suspect were 486 rounds of 7.62 milimetres calibre ammunition, a car and n31,500 cash.

Also,dss said its operatives on Thursday, raided the hideout of a jail breaker, Kabir Bala in Kogi State, and killed one of members of his terrorist group, during a gunfight.

During the operation, DSS said they recovered one ak-47 rifle loaded with three fully loaded magazines and six locally made guns. phones, and charms.”

Meanwhile, the DSS disclosed that in a joint operations with the Army and the police carried out in Nasarawa, and Kogi states between

June 19 and  22,  a gang leader, identified as Kabir Bala, was killed during a gun duel in Kogi.

“During the operation, the team seized the following insidious items: 486 rounds of 7.62 x39mm calibre ammunition;22 primed IEDs;

N31,500 and One Volkswagen Golf vehicle with registration number- RBC202XA.

“Also,  in another joint operation in the early hours of today, June 22, 2023, a team raided the hideout of Kabir Bala (aka Okwo),

one-time jailbreaker and notorious gang leader in Ejule, Ofu LGA of Kogi State.

Okwo and his gang members engaged the troops in a gun duel during which he was neutralised. Others, however, fled the area.
