Delay, Insecurity and Confusion Mar Ogun PDP Primaries

Official results are being expected from the primaries of Ogun PDP for the house of representatives, and house of assembly poll conducted on Sunday night.

The official results are expected to be out later today.

The primary elections, scheduled to begin by Sunday morning were riddled with confusion, and alleged kidnap of delegates on their way to zones designated for the primaries.

Also, delay in delivery of electoral materials to designated zones, and disagreement over the delegates list, as well alleged manipulation of the delegates list added to the confusion.

The primaries, scheduled for 10 am for state house of assembly primaries and 2 pm for federal house of representatives primaries did not start until Sunday night.

Some of the primaries conducted earlier on Sunday  in Abeokuta were cancelled by Ogun PDP electoral panel, on the ground that they did not monitor them.

The state of insecurity forced the panel to shift the designated centres for the primaries in Ogun central to elsewhere to ensure security.

For instance the national committee deployed by the national working committee to conduct the primaries arrived Abeokuta in the evening.
