Daniel Forgives Those Behind His EFCC Trial, Says Some Are Now Friends.

Former governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun state says he has forgiven all those behind his eleven year EFCC trial for alleged corruption.

Most of those who were behind the prolonged trial, according to him, are now his friends.

Daniel spoke on the issue, while addressing newsmen on the sideline of the maiden edition of the Asiwaju of Remo Christian Choir festival and special thanksgiving service, at the Abraham Terbanacle, Sagamu on Sunday.

The former governor said he is not a saint, but did not steal money or land, adding that he always do everything right to the best of his knowledge.

According to Daniel, there would be no incentive for doing the right thing in a society, where one is persecuted for doing the right thing.

Daniel was charged for alleged official corruption on October 12, 2011, but was freed of the charges by an appeal court on April 12, 2022, after close to 11 years of trial.

Throughout the EFCC trial, Daniel said he felt strongly that God would vindicate him over the phoney charges levelled against him.

He expressed gratitude to the judiciary for vindicating him, saying this had further reinforced his strong belief in the judiciary as the last chance of a common man.
