Customs Sacked Over 2,000 Personnel In Seven Years
Nigeria Customs Service said it has sacked over 2,000 of its personnel in the past seven years over sharp practices.
The Customs comptroller general, Retired Colonel Hammed Ali said those sacked were prosecuted and jailed .
Alli speaking during the state house briefing at the Presidential villa, Abuja, said that some of those sacked shortchanged the customs by illegally reducing duties on imported vehicles.

On the fragile security at Nigeria’s land borders, the customs chief ruled out the erection of fence, saying that Nigeria lacks the capacity and resources for such a project.
According to him, Nigeria has no problems with its land borders with Niger Republic, but those with Benin Republic are facing challenges from smugglers.
He explained that is why the customs is investing massively in technology to manage the country’s land borders.
