Cultists Strike in Abeokuta, Kill One in Suspected Reprisal Attack

Suspected cultists have again struck in a suspected reprisal attack in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

They struck on Sunday night, killing one man at Quarry road.

The attack on Sunday night created a fresh panic in the axis where residents are yet to recover from killings in recent cultists clashes.

His attackers hacked him in the head and face after shooting him dead in front of a lounge, and fled from the scene.

A police team from Adigbe police divisional headquarters rushed to Oluwo axis after Sunday midnight, to contain the spread of the attack, to prevent a fresh reprisal attacks by cultist groups in the state.

The commander of Ogun state Amotekun corps, retired police commissioner David Akinremi confirmed the incident to a Rockcity FM correspondent, Yemi Eniola on Monday afternoon.

Aderemi said intelligence at the disposal of the corps indicated that he was a victim of rival cultists clashes.

The Amotekun corps commander however said it could not be ascertained if the victim was a member of a cult group, but added that investigations are ongoing into the fresh killing.
