Cultist Killed, Three Held in Supremacy Battle in Abeokuta

One cultist has died in a supremacy battle between rival clashes between cultist groups in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, on Sunday.

Two of the suspected cultists were arrested by police during the bloody clashes at Elega-Iberekodo axis of the city.

Police identified two suspects arrested by a team of swat operatives during the supremacy battle as Ibrahim and Habeeb Muideen.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said a SWAT team led by its commander, chief superitendent Kalejaiye Olanrewaju intervened, following a distress call on the rival cult clashes.

According to him, the cultists on sighting swat operatives fled in different direction, adding that one of them was arrested after being chased at Iberekodo, while the second suspect was picked up at Ajitadun.

According to him, a battle axe and charms were recovered from the two suspects.
