Crude Oil And Gas Production Begins From North’s First Oil Field
Nigeria’s first crude oil and natural gas well in the north, has started commercial production. President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the oil and gas wells at an oil field operated by Kolamni Integrated Development Project, within Bauchi and Gombe State’s boundaries. In its first phase, the oil well will produce 500,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

The first reservoir of the oil field, according to documents, contains one billion barrels of crude oil and 500 billion standard cubic standard feet of gas.
Buhari said a total of $3 billion investment was attracted to the exploitation of the oil deposit located in the upper Benue trough.
He directed Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to expand its search to the frontiers of Anambra, Dahomey, Sokoto, Chad and Bida Basins to boost Nigeria’s proven oil reserves.
