Court Retains Yayi In Ogun Senatorial Poll, Awarded N6 Million Cost Against Applicant

A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has dismissed a suit seeking to disqualify an Ogun State All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola also known by the alias Yayi, from contesting in the senatorial poll in Ogun West.

Justice Joyce Abdumalik dismissing the application on Monday, ruled that it lacks merit.

Muideen Akintade and three other plaintiffs who filed the application, want the court to declare illegal, the transfer of his voter registration from Idimu in Lagos State to Ilaro in Ogun State, to constest as the Ogun West senatorial candidate of the APC.

The plaintiff argued that Adeola who is a serving senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, cannot contest same position in Ogun State in the 2023 polls.

Justice Abdulmalik dismissing the suit, also ordered the plaintiff to pay a N6 million cost to senator Adeola.
