Court Orders AGF to Stop Deleting Section of New Electoral Act

The court of appeal, Owerri, has ordered the attorney general of the federation to allow an appeal against the judgement of a federal high court ordering it to delete sub section 12 of section 84 of the electoral act 2022.

The federal high court, sitting in Owerri had ordered the attorney general to delete the section of the electoral act retained by the national assembly against objection by the presidency.

The court of appeal warns that no step should be taken to frustrate the appeal against the judgement of the federal high court.

Justice Rita Pemu, ruling in an application filed by the PDP seeking to join in the appeal against the federal high court judgement okayed the application.

The appellate court gave PDP until April 12 to file a notice of its appeal, and other parties to file their briefs within three days if being served with the notice.

Hearing adjourned till May 4 to hear the application.
