Court Jails Man for Scaling Fence into Obasanjo’s House

An Abeokuta magistrate court has convicted a 33 year old man for scaling the fence of the house of former president Obasanjo at Ita Eko, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The convict, Seun Sowemimo, was jailed 12 months without an option of fine.

The convict who earlier confessed to the crime when he was arrested, told the court on Monday that he jumped into the house amidst panic in the area.

He denied stealing anything in the house.

Earlier, the prosecutor, assistant police superintendent Olakunle Sonibare, told the court that the convict scaled the fence of the house last Friday at 10.45 pm.

On scaling the fence into the house, the prosecutor said he stole a car, and was arrested on the spot.

Magistrate Olajumoke Somefun in her judgement said the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

She sentenced Sowemimo to a year in jail, without an option of fine.
