Brazilian Police Officer Kills Four Colleagues

A Brazilian police officer has shot dead four of his colleagues at the station where they worked. The sad incident occurred in Camocim, the capital of Ceará on Sunday.

The State Civil police on Instagram said the suspect, who was off duty, fled in a police car after the shooting and handed himself over to authorities at a military police barracks.

The secretariat of public security and social defense of Ceará said that the case is being investigated and added that the police station is isolated for the collection of evidence.

The governor of Ceará, Elmano de freitas, sympathized with the family members, friends and colleagues of the deceased, adding that his office would provide all the necessary support to the family members.

The suspect shooter, who was off duty at the time, fled in a police vehicle and later surrendered at a Military Police station, a local security official told the G1 news outlet.

The mayor of Camocim which is approximately 350 kilometers (220 miles) from the state capital of Fortaleza declared three days of mourning in remembrance of the victims.
