Bauchi Credited With Highest Number Of Illicit Arms Seizure By Police

Bauchi State has been credited with the highest number of illicit arms and ammunition recovered by the police between January 2020 and September 2022.

Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statistics released to the International Committee of Red Cross.

According to the data, 46,366 assorted arms and ammunition were recovered from Bauchi, 31,711 from Anambra, 14,486 from Delta, 4,250 from Zamfara, as well as, 3,136 from Cross River state.

The least number of 347 arms were recovered from Akwa Ibom, 219 from Osun, 141 from Ebonyi state and the least of 37 from Sokoto state.

Former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris in February 2018 had ordered the state police commissioners to mop up prohibited arms and ammunition in their respective states.
