The independent national electoral commission (INEC) has asked the presidential election petitions tribunal to vary its order which permitted the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi,  to inspect the material used for the conduct of the February 25 presidential poll.

The court in the order issued last week, also directed INEC to also allow the candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar to inspect the material.

The electoral body in a motion before the court last Saturday, wants the order to be varied because it restrained it from tampering with any of the material used for the conduct of the polls.

INEC in the motion, told the court that it needs to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation system (BVAS) for use during the march 11 governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls.

No date has been fixed by the court for hearing the INEC’s application.

The court order INEC to allow both Atiku and Obi to inspect the material, following the petitions they filed to challenge the outcome of the poll.
